Web Offset (Mono) Printing
Griffin Press uses specialised Timson coldset web offset book presses. Aside from the environmental benefits of coldset printing where less water is used and no ovens are required, these book presses have been configured for Griffin to suit read for pleasure book printing and the industry standard book formats A (181x111mm) B (198 x 128mm), B+ (215 x 135mm), C (234 x 153mm) and C+ (234 x 180mm), bled variations of these sizes can be accommodated.
Being a read for pleasure book printer our web presses are mono (black) presses only, we do print high quality illustration sections in black or colour from our sheet-fed press for inserting into finished books.
Our paper stocks have been specifically selected for this market and their availability. We stock bulky news, book cream, bulky whites and offset whites along with illustration stocks for inserts.
We quote offset prices for print runs generally in excess of 1000 copies. The focus of our offset business means we only print the trim sizes listed above, but we have greater flexibility in our short run digital print environment, so if these specifications are not what you are looking for then check out our digital print environment if you're looking for greater format flexibility and shorter print runs.
When utilising our standard formats and paper stocks Griffin Press delivers a service based on fast turnaround times that enable you to print closer to order for new books and close to on-demand for offset reprints for those best sellers that are racing out the door. Our objective is to allow you improved management of your inventory and ultimately help deliver to you a more profitable publishing program allowing you to continue to invest in your authors rather than being overstocked with inventory. The service we provide in offset printing then migrates to our digital print services giving you tighter control of your inventory and cash flow, a full life cycle solution for your books.
