Illustration Section Placement
To deliver economies and efficiencies in web offset book production Griffin Press produces the majority of paperback books with illustration sections in a for and aft manufacturing methodology. Therefore you should check carefully our quotation and then consider where the illustration sections can fall.
Illustration sections must fall equidistant from the centre of the book to be suitable for head to head binding. The majority of books printed by Griffin Press are manufactured head to head.
Example 1:

The diagram shows two illustration sections
(A + B), falling equidistant from the centre of
the book, between 5/32 page text sections
imposed 2-up head to head.
Example 2:

This diagram shows one illustration section (A)
falling nearest to the middle of the book. This
is due to the odd number of text sections.
50% of books will have this illustration section
falling before the centre text section, and
50% of the books will have the illustration
section falling after the centre text section.
At an additional cost, Griffin can produce books in a head to foot process to allow common illustration positioning in both books. This process doubles the number of press plates required.
Example 3:

This diagram shows head to foot production
where all sections are printed double up and
illustration placement is the same in both
books.
